The United Way of the Adirondack Region, Inc. held its kick off breakfast on Friday, September 12, 2014 at the American Legion Post #20 in Plattsburgh. A record crowd attended with supporters and partners being represented from throughout the three county region. John Bernardi, Executive Director said, “this crowd is representative of the incredible generosity and caring nature of our north country community”. The campaign video was debuted and drew applause from of approximately 200 attendees who represented supporters, pacesetters, community partners, elected officials board members and volunteers. Bruce and Marge Garcia, this year’s campaign co-chairs, both spoke on how the United Way of the Adirondack Region has touched their life and the commitment they have on making the $725,000 goal set this year. Kathy Snow, Director of Development ant Marion Daniels, Director of Finance then announced the pacesetter results (enclosed). Pacesetters are businesses and organizations that complete their campaign before the kick off. They concluded with an announcement that with all of the pacesetter results in, the campaign was at 18.6% of the goal.
The 41 partner agencies of the United Way of the Adirondack Region, Inc. collectively served 80,000 people in Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties last year. Our mission is “To be a leader in community partnership building and to increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another.”
